Smudging is the name given to cleansing auras and energies of a person or space. Just as we become physically dirty, our auras and the space around us collects negative energies. Smudging allows us to cleanse these spaces and balance the energies around us. Smudging also helps to prepare sacred spaces such as altars. There are a number of different herbs that are particularly beneficial to use when smudging and they come in a variety of different applications, such as sweet grass braids and even the burning of just loose herbs. Once of the most popular and practical products to smudge with are smudge sticks.
These are bundles of dry herbs, (usually sage or white sage) that are bundled together in natural twine. The end is lit and than blown out (very much the same way you would light incense.) The stick will waft smoke and fill the area with scent. You may wish to use a ceramic bowl or abalone shell to catch any falling embers. (ALWAYS BE AWARE OF ANY FIRE HAZARD THAT MAY BE POSED FROM SMUDGING.)
The actual of cleansing the person or space is very simplistic. You waft the smoke around the person or space and visualise the negative energy wafting away with the smoke. You may wish to use a feather or a fan to help the smoke drift into the designated areas. Visualise the cleansing of the energies around the person or area and concentrate that visualisation and intent during the ritual. You may wish to say a few words, either out loud or in your head such as: “I wish to cleanse this person/area or all negativity” I tend to say a little chant such as: “Let these herbs blow over me, Cleanse all negativity, Restore all that is pure and true So I can start today anew” Focus on your words in your head and your heart whilst smudging. You may wish to bring the ritual to an end by drawing a circle in the air with the smudge stick fan or feather.
Burning Considerations:
The intention of smudging is to create a few wafts of smoke. Do not over do it – if you are coughing from the smoke, you are burning the herbs too much. Also do not smudge near children, people with respitary problems and those who are pregnant or trying to conceive.
Popular Smudge Herbs and their properties:
Sage: There are different types of sage, the most popular being White Desert Sage. Sage is a great energy cleanser of people and places. It cleanses negativity and entities and de-clouds the aura.
Cedar: Grown as pine, this is a very uplifting and calming resin which helps to cleanse and heal.
Sweetgrass: This is a hardy grass used for grounding strengthening and grounding.

about 3 years ago. The practice of Witchcraft dates from 35,000 BC and has had a
presence ever since, even during the witch trials when it had to be practiced in
secret. The principles of Witchcraft are to celebrate the gift of nature, to
celebrate the yearly cycle and the cycles of the moon. One of the practices of
witchcraft is spell-casting which is the use of magick to encourage positive
changes and influences. Witchcraft had somewhat of a revival in the 1950's after the Witchcraft Act
(1736) was repealed and people such as Gardener and Sanders created Wicca and
its traditions. Wicca is based on neo paganism and modern polytheistic
traditions. Wicca has its rede which regards the divine life source as part of
nature, not a force beyond creation. Although witchcraft is still widely
practiced, Wicca has become a popular modern alternative. Wicca's structure
allows freedom in ritual practice, especially for solitary workers who do not
belong to a Coven. A positive media image and the acceptance in main stream
culture has also made Wicca popular such as Charmed.
We stock a number of tarot
cards.Tarot cards act as a divinational tool to help us to identify past,
present and future events, changes, influences and outcomes in our own lives and
other people’s. Tarot cards represent these with pictorial energies that provide
us with senses, feelings and energies that help us to interpret the cards. A
usual deck of tarot cards consists of 78 cards and these cards are split into
two categories; The MAJOR ARCANA and the MINOR ARCANA. The Major Arcana consist
of 22 tarot cards whilst the Minor Arcana contain the rest of the deck and are
split into four suits; wands, cups, swords and pentacles.
It is advisable to store tarot cards in a clean storage environment and this
means keeping your tarot deck in tarot bags, tarot pouches,tarot cloths and
tarot boxes.
The two popular questions I am
always asked when someone is interested in a ouija board is 1: Do they work? 2.
Are they safe? Both questions involve the same answer, it depends on the group
of people using them. 1.Ouija boards will work if you have a good energy around
the board (usually 3 - 4 people) and it helps to meditate a little before you
use the ouija board to help raise your energy vibrations and connect with
spirit. It may take a while for you to get any response from the ouija board
even months, and even when you do, the answers you get may not make any sense.
However, if you approach the board as a serious form of mediumship, and you
persevere, it should work for you. 2. There are so many arguments whether these
boards are good or evil, so I am only going to give you my PERSONAL OPINION. I
think that ouija boards are like any tool; it is the person who uses it who
influences its use. I always say that if you ask a silly question, you will get
a silly answer. So respect the board and the spirits who come through and NEVER
EVER USE THE BOARD AFTER DRINKING.
Angels are higher forms of
existence and are here around us to help and guide on a personal level and even
on a wordly level! They are here to offer advice, guidance, salvation, love and
happiness. The way that an angel communicates with you may differ. You may
actually encounter your angel during dream time, meditation or when you least
expect it! It may be that you hear a whisper in you ear or even find a feather

Runes are are a divination
tool and there are 25 runes in a set. Runes are usually made from natural
sources such as crystal, clay, metal or wood. Each rune depicts a symbol from
a universal life theme such as change, blockage, prosperity etc. From Early as
1300BC, pictorial symbols were used by Germanic tribes as a form of
communication. The word rune evolved from runa, a word meaning mysticism,
implying magical use of runes. Now, runes represent energy-balancing forces
from within our universe. From the runes, we can seek knowledge and wisdom.
The reader interprets the energies transferred from the runes in both their
symbolic and physical sense. (For example, runes made from clear quartz are a
greater transmitter of psychic energies.) Runes can be read either in a spread
or one rune can be drawn daily for a daily interpretation.
There are many theories how
pendulums work. My personal belief is that small muscle spasms in the hand
vibrate the pendulum to allow it to swing and rotate in a certain direction. You
are best trying out a few pendulums to see which ones call to you. Once you know
how to use a pendulum, you will be able to test them out to see which ones
swing/rotate best for you. Some people think that crystal pendulums should be
used for healing and divination and metallic pendulums should be used for
dowsing. However, it is just a question of finding a pendulum that works best
for you. To use a pendulum, hold it in the palm of your hand and empower it.
Empower it by clearing your mind and concentrating on the pendulum. Speak to it
in your mind or out loud and say something like: “I cleanse you of any past
energies and wish you to answer and guide me with the questions I have to ask.”
Next, drape the chain over the back of your hand and hold it securely with you
thumb, allowing enough free chain for the pendulum to swing and rotate freely.
Now you can either place the pendulum a couple of inches above a pendulum mat or
over the palm of your other hand. Ask the pendulum to show you yes and the
pendulum will swing or rotate in a certain direction. Then ask it to show you no
and the pendulum should swing or rotate in another direction. These movements
will indicate your yes and no answers. However, recheck frequently with your
pendulum as your yes and no will sometimes alter with time.

a visualization tool, aid meditation or heal. They are also beneficial for
cleansing our own energies and the energies around us. Crystals can be used to
balance and heal our auras and chakras and can be used in a number of different
forms such as tumbled stones, jewellery, pendulums and wands.
